CAB Makes the Grade!

There are so many things in education that happen behind the scenes, and as part of a small school, it means that we all pitch in and work together to get it done. Every year, schools set goals for themselves in a School Improvement Plan (SIP), and the state sets goals for all of us. The SIP is a plan of how we will reach them.

Our staff has been hard at work, even more so that usual in the last few years, as the state requires more documentation all the time. We have been reviewing our curriculum, and revising it as needed to ensure that we are offering your child(ren) the best education we can give them; our goal is for each student to be able to achieve his or her goals!

In this year’s reporting, it shows that CAB is making great strides in meeting our goals, as our test scores, and placement in the Top to Bottom List continues to rise! Here’s a breakdown of the good news we’ve been receiving in the last few weeks:

*Our M-Step scores continue to be some of the highest in the area, and the ISD.
*From the 14-15 Top to Bottom List, our school has improved 21% from the 68th percentile, to the 89th!
*We are also making gains in closing our achievement gap percentile.
*Our Scorecard continues to be a Lime Green, which is the second highest “grade” you can have–this is based on test scores, and other factors like attendance, state reporting requirements, and gaps.
*Our students are meeting or exceeding expectations for proficiency on the SAT and the M-Step.

If you would like to compare us to other area schools, or see a broader picture of our school, please go to mischooldata.org. If you click on the left, where it says “Dashboard and Accountability Scorecard”, you can search for our school. We are part of Charlevoix-Emmet ISD, and you can find out more there!

It takes a village to raise a child, and at our small charter school, we feel strongly that we have a fantastic village! Thank you to all of the staff and students for their hard work, and to our parents for committing to our school, and believing in what we’re doing here!

We look forward to continuing to serve you in the future!
