Concord Academy of Boyne

In a charter school, there is no extra millage funding for operational expenses, or new technology or security. Every year, I find at least one family who didn’t realize that. Our enrollment is key because 90% of our annual budget is in our per-pupil funding from the state.

In the last six years since I’ve taken this position, there have been changes, but one of the biggest is our enrollment drop. We always, as long as I’ve been here, will have some movement between schools in the area, and will lose some students to bigger schools for sports, or other programs that they may be interested in. But the biggest drop we couldn’t have planned for has been for our families who have left the area, and moved either downstate or out of state; that alone has caused us to lose 60 students, most of those in the last four years.

As I stated at the Choir Concert this week, enrollment is key for us to keep our programs going, and to add to our offerings. That is why we are appealing to you, our satisfied customers, who do the best advertising of all. If parents or students hear about how happy you are with what we’re doing, they come and check us out, and many times, they enroll!

While we do not provide transportation, we can offer an incentive to reimburse you some of your transportation costs. There are postcards in the office, which you can give to a family you’d like to refer to us, and if they enroll their child(ren) here in the 2018-19 school year, and remain here, you will receive a gas card for $250.00! If you send us two families that enroll, that’s two cards, worth $250.00 each!

While the postcards do emphasize our Open House, please know that this offer is valid even after that–if you refer a family who visits on the first day of school next year, and enrolls the next day, it still counts!

I would like to personally thank all of you for supporting our school, our staff, and our students, as well as for trusting us with your child’s education. We have plans to continue to expand our program offerings, which will help students get what they need out of education, no matter what field they eventually choose. It is our goal that each child gets what he or she needs, in order to live a life of impact later on, and together, we can make that happen! Thank you for all of your support!
